Tuesday's 16-game MLB slate delivered the best individual performance of the season: Ryan O'Hearn went yard three times and drove in a Pittsburgh franchise-record 10 runs, turning Atlanta into a backdrop. Out West, Colorado walked into Dodger Stadium as heavy underdogs and left with a 4-3 win. The NBA and NHL are in their offseasons.

MLB — Tuesday, July 7

Pittsburgh Pirates, 12 — Atlanta Braves, 4. The night belonged to Ryan O'Hearn. He hit three home runs and drove in 10 runs — a franchise record for the Pirates — as Pittsburgh ran away from Atlanta 12-4. The Braves had no answer for O'Hearn's production through the lineup.

Colorado Rockies, 4 — Los Angeles Dodgers, 3. The result that flipped the slate. Colorado came in off Monday's 7-8 walk-off loss and upset the Dodgers in Los Angeles, 4-3. The Rockies take the series lead in what was supposed to be an easy Los Angeles home stand.

Kansas City Royals, 16 — New York Mets, 12. Kansas City carried its offense from Monday's 15-1 rout of Philadelphia into Citi Field and kept rolling. The Royals scored 16 against the Mets — surviving a 12-run New York response — for a four-run win.

Milwaukee Brewers, 4 — St. Louis Cardinals, 3 (Doubleheader Game 1). Milwaukee took the afternoon opener in St. Louis, holding on for a one-run win to start the scheduled doubleheader.

Tampa Bay Rays, 6 — New York Yankees, 4. Tampa Bay bounced back from Monday's 5-1 loss to even their series with New York. The Rays scored six and held on for a two-run win.

Miami Marlins, 6 — Seattle Mariners, 5. Miami edged Seattle by one run at home, a tight finish with the Marlins holding on late.
