Wednesday's 14-game MLB board delivered a road sweep at Yankee Stadium in extra innings, a 23-3 blowout at Wrigley, and Baltimore denying the White Sox a three-game sweep. The NBA and NHL are in their offseasons.
MLB — Wednesday, July 1
Detroit Tigers, 6 — New York Yankees, 2. The night's marquee result. The Tigers completed their three-game road sweep at Yankee Stadium, winning in extra innings to close the series without dropping a game in New York. Detroit needed extra frames to close it out but left with a 6-2 final. New York opens a new series Thursday.
Chicago Cubs, 23 — San Diego Padres, 3. A 20-run margin at Wrigley Field capped the series sweep. The Cubs had won the first two games 3-2 and 9-7 before putting up 23 in the finale. San Diego moves on to Los Angeles for Thursday night's matchup on MLB Network at 10:10 PM ET.
Baltimore Orioles, 6 — Chicago White Sox, 1. The Orioles denied the three-game sweep at Camden Yards, winning game three convincingly at home. Chicago takes the series 2-1 but couldn't close it out in Baltimore.
Cleveland Guardians, 9 — Texas Rangers, 4. Cleveland won game three at Progressive Field by five to keep the series finale competitive, but Texas won the three-game set 2-1 after taking the first two.
Washington Nationals, 10 — Boston Red Sox, 2. Washington won a second straight at Fenway, going up 2-0 in the series with a comfortable eight-run road win over Boston.
Toronto Blue Jays, 9 — New York Mets, 3. The Blue Jays won the series on Canada Day at Rogers Centre, winning game three 9-3. New York had shutout Toronto in game two to even the series at 1-1, but couldn't hold it in the finale.
Philadelphia Phillies, 10 — Pittsburgh Pirates, 6. Philadelphia won at Citizens Bank Park to go up 2-1 in the series heading into Thursday. The Phillies have now won two of three after Pittsburgh handed them an 11-7 loss in game one Monday.
Atlanta Braves, 5 — St. Louis Cardinals, 1. Atlanta evened the series at 1-1 with a four-run win at Truist Park. The Cardinals won game one June 30; the Braves respond Wednesday to set up a rubber match Thursday at 7:15 PM ET.
Tampa Bay Rays, 4 — Kansas City Royals, 0. Tampa Bay shut out the Royals in game two, going up 2-0 in the series. The Rays scored four and held Kansas City off the board entirely. The series continues Thursday at 7:40 PM ET.
Milwaukee Brewers, 4 — Cincinnati Reds, 2. Milwaukee won the ESPN national game to take a 3-0 lead in the four-game series at American Family Field. The Brewers have won all three, giving the Reds a must-win Thursday at 2:10 PM to avoid the sweep.
Minnesota Twins, 8 — Houston Astros, 3. Minnesota won the series finale at Minute Maid Park, taking the three-game set 2-1. The Twins won games one and three while Houston took game two.
Colorado Rockies, 6 — Miami Marlins, 3. Colorado won game three at Coors Field to pull within 2-1 in the series. Miami had outscored the Rockies 24-7 over the first two games; the Rockies responded at home to set up game four Thursday at 3:10 PM ET.
Oakland Athletics, 7 — Los Angeles Dodgers, 1. Oakland prevented the three-game sweep at the Coliseum, beating the Dodgers 7-1 to close the series 2-1 Los Angeles. The Dodgers had scored nine in each of the first two games but were held to one in game three.
San Francisco Giants, 6 — Arizona Diamondbacks, 4. The Giants won game two at Chase Field to even the series at 1-1. Arizona had taken the opener convincingly June 30; San Francisco levels things to set up a game three rubber match.

- MLB: St. Louis Cardinals at Atlanta Braves, 7:15 PM ET on MLB.TV. Series tied 1-1 after the Braves' 5-1 win Wednesday. Game three in Atlanta decides the series.
- MLB: Tampa Bay Rays at Kansas City Royals, 7:40 PM ET on MLB.TV. Tampa Bay goes for the sweep with a 2-0 series lead. The Rays shut out the Royals 4-0 in Wednesday's game.
- MLB: Detroit Tigers at Texas Rangers, 8:05 PM ET on MLB.TV. Detroit opens a new series in Arlington coming off a three-game sweep of the Yankees.
- MLB: San Diego Padres at Los Angeles Dodgers, 10:10 PM ET on MLB Network. Roki Sasaki takes the mound for Los Angeles in the night's marquee late game.
