MLB — Wednesday, July 2
Tampa Bay Rays, 5 — Kansas City Royals, 2. The night's marquee result. Cedric Mullins hit a two-run homer and Ian Seymour dominated Kansas City for the second time in a week as the Rays completed the three-game sweep. Tampa Bay has now won eight straight. The Royals didn't score more than two runs in any game of the series.
Cincinnati Reds, 7 — Milwaukee Brewers, 2. The Reds needed a win to avoid the sweep and got it decisively at American Family Field. St. Louis Cardinals, 11 — Atlanta Braves, 5. The series had been tied 1-1 heading into Wednesday night. St. Louis broke it open with an 11-5 win at Truist Park, taking the rubber match and the series 2-1. Atlanta couldn't hold the advantage at home.
Los Angeles Dodgers, 12 — San Diego Padres, 7. The night's late marquee on MLB Network. Los Angeles put up 12 runs in a comfortable win over San Diego, taking the game in the West Coast closer.
