Chicago Cubs, 3 — San Diego Padres, 2. Chicago edged San Diego by one at Wrigley Field, taking the series opener in the NL Central-NL West matchup. The Cubs host the Padres again Tuesday night.

Toronto Blue Jays, 2 — New York Mets, 1. Toronto won a low-scoring series opener at Rogers Centre, beating the Mets by one. New York visits again Tuesday.

Texas Rangers, 6 — Cleveland Guardians, 3. Texas won in Cleveland in a continuation of Monday's action at Progressive Field, beating the Guardians by three. The clubs meet again Tuesday at 6:40 PM.

Boston Red Sox, 6 — Washington Nationals, 3. Boston won its home series opener against Washington by three at Fenway Park. The Nationals return Tuesday at 7:10 PM.

Seattle Mariners, 6 — Los Angeles Angels, 2. Seattle handled the Angels at home, winning by four to take the series opener at T-Mobile Park. The clubs meet again Tuesday at 9:40 PM.

Milwaukee Brewers, 5 — Cincinnati Reds, 3. Milwaukee won the series opener at American Family Field by two, beating the Reds at home. The clubs continue Tuesday at 7:40 PM.

Chicago White Sox, 8 — Baltimore Orioles, 2. Chicago won by six at Camden Yards, taking the series opener in Baltimore. The White Sox continue in Baltimore on Tuesday at 6:35 PM.
