Friday delivered a 15-game MLB board and one historically lopsided result: the Chicago White Sox put up 22 runs against the Kansas City Royals at Guaranteed Rate Field, one of the highest single-game totals of the season. Boston continued its dominance over the visiting Yankees with a 6-1 win, building a 2-0 series lead headed into Saturday's rubber match on ABC. San Diego routed Los Angeles by six in a key NL West series opener. The NBA and NHL are both in their offseasons, with the NHL Draft running this weekend.

MLB — 15-game Friday slate

Chicago White Sox, 22 — Kansas City Royals, 1. The night's marquee result by a wide margin. Chicago's offense erupted from top to bottom of the lineup at Guaranteed Rate Field, putting up 22 runs while holding Kansas City to one. The 21-run margin is among the widest on any single board this season. The Royals now travel back to Chicago for Saturday's 4:10 PM ET follow-up.

Boston Red Sox, 6 — New York Yankees, 1. Boston made it back-to-back wins over New York at Fenway, winning Friday's AL East matchup 6-1 to follow Thursday's 6-3 victory. The Red Sox have outscored the Yankees 12-2 through two games, putting New York in must-win position for Saturday's series finale on ABC. A. Chapman's bullpen handled the late innings as Boston's rotation and relief corps have been nearly untouchable this series.

San Diego Padres, 7 — Los Angeles Dodgers, 1. San Diego handled the Dodgers convincingly at Petco Park, winning by six in the NL West series opener. The Padres allowed just one run while posting seven, putting pressure on the Dodgers to respond in Saturday's finale on MLB Network.

Detroit Tigers, 8 — Houston Astros, 0. Detroit answered two narrow series wins with a shutout at Comerica Park, blanking the Astros completely on Friday night. The 8-0 final is Houston's worst loss of this series — the Tigers held them scoreless for all nine innings.

Cincinnati Reds, 6 — Pittsburgh Pirates, 4. Cincinnati won by two at PNC Park, taking the Friday series game over Pittsburgh in a mid-table NL Central matchup.

Baltimore Orioles, 3 — Washington Nationals, 1. Baltimore beat Washington by two at Camden Yards, taking the series game in the AL East-NL East interleague match. The Nationals were held to one run through nine.

Texas Rangers, 5 — Toronto Blue Jays, 4. Texas edged Toronto by one run at Rogers Centre in Friday's tight AL West-AL East interleague game, holding on late for a one-run series win.

Tampa Bay Rays, 6 — Arizona Diamondbacks, 1. Tampa Bay dominated Arizona by five at Tropicana Field, the Rays' offense putting up six against a Diamondbacks rotation that couldn't find its footing on the road.

Philadelphia Phillies, 2 — New York Mets, 1. A tight one at Citi Field. Philadelphia held New York to one run and won the one-run series game in a Friday NL East divisional matchup. The Phillies continue their run against the Mets after last week's pair of double-digit games.

Seattle Mariners, 3 — Cleveland Guardians, 1. Seattle took the road series game at Progressive Field, winning by two and holding Cleveland to one run on Friday night.

Minnesota Twins, 9 — Colorado Rockies, 8. The board's closest result. Minnesota and Colorado combined for 17 runs at Target Field, with the Twins taking the one-run Friday game to close out the series. Colorado put up eight but couldn't match Minnesota's nine.

Miami Marlins, 4 — St. Louis Cardinals, 0. Miami blanked St. Louis at loanDepot Park, a 4-0 shutout that gives the Marlins the clean series win over the Cardinals.

Oakland Athletics, 9 — Los Angeles Angels, 3. Oakland beat Anaheim by six at Angel Stadium, continuing a strong road series for the Athletics against their AL West neighbors.

Milwaukee Brewers, 6 — Chicago Cubs, 2. Milwaukee beat Chicago by four at American Family Field, the Brewers taking the NL Central series from the Cubs after a convincing Friday win. Chicago drops one after last week's three-game Mets sweep.

Atlanta Braves, 3 — San Francisco Giants, 1. Atlanta took the road series game at Oracle Park, winning by two against San Francisco to give the Braves a Friday win in the NL West-NL East interleague matchup.
