Boston Red Sox, 6 — New York Yankees, 3. The marquee AL East matchup at Fenway went to Boston. The Red Sox took the series opener by three runs, with closer A. Tampa Bay Rays, 13 — Kansas City Royals, 2. Thursday's most one-sided result. Tampa Bay scored 13 at Tropicana Field and held Kansas City to two, a 13-2 rout that continues the AL matchup after Kansas City's 12-5 road win earlier in the series.

Oakland Athletics, 9 — San Francisco Giants, 6. Oakland reversed Wednesday's result, when San Francisco walked off 2-1 on back-to-back ninth-inning home runs. The Athletics posted nine runs Thursday and beat the Giants by three to take the Bay Area series at Oracle Park.

Philadelphia Phillies, 10 — Washington Nationals, 5. Philadelphia put up 10 for the second time in the series, beating Washington by five at Nationals Park. The Phillies have scored 20 runs across two road games in this series.

Houston Astros, 2 — Detroit Tigers, 1. Houston took a one-run road win at Comerica Park, its second straight win in Detroit following Wednesday's 2-1 edge. The Astros hold the series.

Chicago Cubs, 4 — New York Mets, 3. Chicago won a one-run road game at Citi Field, extending their series with the Mets following Wednesday's doubleheader sweep (10-3, 10-5). The Cubs now take Thursday's series opener as well.
