MLB — 16-game Wednesday board
San Francisco Giants, 2 — Athletics, 1. San Francisco trailed by one heading into the ninth inning and won on two consecutive home runs, walking off Oracle Park 2-1. Both Giants runs came in that final frame, making it Wednesday's most dramatic swing and the second straight night the Bay Area clubs played close baseball.
Chicago Cubs, 10 — New York Mets, 3. Doubleheader Game 1, a makeup of the June 22 postponement. Chicago put up ten at Citi Field and won by seven, completing the opener before returning for the evening game.
Chicago Cubs, 10 — New York Mets, 5. Doubleheader Game 2. The Cubs doubled up in the nightcap as well, winning 10-5 to complete the sweep. Chicago beat New York twice on Wednesday and has now won three straight in the series.
Pittsburgh Pirates, 11 — Seattle Mariners, 1. The largest margin of the night. Pittsburgh put ten on the Mariners at PNC Park, holding Seattle to a single run in a statement home win.
Colorado Rockies, 8 — Boston Red Sox, 6. Colorado reversed Tuesday's result and took the series with an 8-6 win at Coors Field. The Rockies got eight runs at altitude to beat the Red Sox by two on the road.
Los Angeles Angels, 7 — Baltimore Orioles, 6. Los Angeles held off Baltimore by one at Angel Stadium. The Angels took Wednesday's series opener in Anaheim with the narrowest American League finish of the night.
Tampa Bay Rays, 5 — Kansas City Royals, 3. Tampa Bay won at home by two, bouncing back after Kansas City's 12-5 road win Tuesday. The Rays took the series opener at Tropicana Field.
New York Yankees, 4 — Detroit Tigers, 2. New York completed back-to-back road wins in Detroit, taking the series with a two-run win at Comerica Park following Tuesday's 4-3 edge.
Philadelphia Phillies, 5 — Washington Nationals, 4. Philadelphia held on for a one-run win at Nationals Park. The Phillies won a tight one on the road, following Tuesday's 8-run ninth-inning comeback with a more straightforward road result.
Houston Astros, 3 — Toronto Blue Jays, 1. Houston won again in Toronto, taking the series with back-to-back road wins at Rogers Centre. The Astros beat the Blue Jays by two after Tuesday's 3-1 victory.
Milwaukee Brewers, 6 — Cincinnati Reds, 5. Milwaukee held off Cincinnati by one at Great American Ball Park, the NL Central's closest contest. The Brewers took a road win on a tight final margin.
Los Angeles Dodgers, 4 — Minnesota Twins, 3. Los Angeles held on at Target Field by one run, a far tighter result than Tuesday's 12-3 rout. The Dodgers won on the road in Minneapolis to take the series, this time holding Minnesota to three rather than rolling as they had the night before.
Arizona Diamondbacks, 9 — St. Louis Cardinals, 4. Arizona posted nine on the Cardinals for the second straight day, winning the series in St. Louis by five at Busch Stadium.
San Diego Padres, 5 — Atlanta Braves, 2. San Diego beat Atlanta by three at Petco Park, following Tuesday's closer 7-6 win. The Padres took the series opener at home.
