Los Angeles beats San Diego 15-3 to split the NL West series, Boston tops New York 4-1 for a third consecutive weekend win, in the 15-game MLB Saturday slate.
Saturday's 15-game MLB board turned on a 12-run margin in San Diego. The Dodgers put up 15 runs at Petco Park — Yoshinobu Yamamoto earned the win — one day after getting routed 7-1 on the same field. Boston closed out a three-game set against New York with a 4-1 win at Fenway, finishing the weekend 3-0. The NBA and NHL are both in their offseasons, with the NHL Draft running this weekend in Los Angeles.
MLB — 15-game Saturday slate
Los Angeles Dodgers, 15 — San Diego Padres, 3. The night's marquee result. A day after dropping a 7-1 decision at Petco Park, Los Angeles came back with 15 runs and Yamamoto on the mound for a dominant series-splitting win. The Dodgers' run total was a season high for the club. The two teams meet again Sunday afternoon at 4:10 PM ET on MLB.TV.
Boston Red Sox, 4 — New York Yankees, 1. Boston finished three games at Fenway by winning 4-1 on Saturday. The Red Sox went 3-0 over New York and outscored the Yankees 16-3 across the series — 6-3 Thursday, 6-1 Friday, 4-1 Saturday. Both clubs return Sunday for an evening game at 7:20 PM ET on NBC.
Chicago Cubs, 8 — Milwaukee Brewers, 2. Chicago answered Friday's 6-2 loss in Milwaukee with an 8-2 win on Saturday. The Cubs posted six more runs than the Brewers and evened the two-game NL Central series. Sunday's rubber game is at 2:10 PM ET on MLB.TV.
Colorado Rockies, 8 — Minnesota Twins, 5. After Minnesota's 9-8 Friday win at Target Field, Colorado took Saturday's game by three to split the weekend series. The two clubs combined for 22 runs across both days. Sunday's rubber game is at 2:10 PM ET on MLB.TV.
Houston Astros, 8 — Detroit Tigers, 6. Houston answered Thursday's shutout at Comerica Park by winning Saturday's game 8-6, preventing the Tigers from taking the series. The series finale is Sunday at 1:40 PM ET.
Cincinnati Reds, 9 — Pittsburgh Pirates, 7. Cincinnati won by two at PNC Park, taking the NL Central Saturday series game over Pittsburgh. The two clubs play again Sunday at 1:35 PM ET.
Texas Rangers, 7 — Toronto Blue Jays, 4. Texas won by three at Rogers Centre, taking the AL West–AL East Saturday interleague game over Toronto. Sunday's series finale is at 1:37 PM ET on MLB.TV.
New York Mets, 6 — Philadelphia Phillies, 2. New York won by four at Citi Field, taking Saturday's NL East divisional game. The Mets held the Phillies to two runs for the series game. Sunday's finale is at 1:40 PM ET.
Chicago White Sox, 2 — Kansas City Royals, 1. The White Sox made it back-to-back wins over Kansas City at Guaranteed Rate Field. After Friday's 22-1 result, Chicago won Saturday's game by one run in a tighter finish. Kansas City returns Sunday at 2:10 PM ET for the series finale.
Tampa Bay Rays, 4 — Arizona Diamondbacks, 2. Tampa Bay won by two over Arizona at Tropicana Field on Saturday, matching Friday's margin. The Rays took both games of the two-game series. Sunday's game is at 1:40 PM ET.
Washington Nationals, 4 — Baltimore Orioles, 3. Washington edged Baltimore by one at Camden Yards, taking the Saturday AL East–NL East interleague series game on the road. Sunday's rubber game is at 1:35 PM ET on MLB.TV.
Cleveland Guardians, 4 — Seattle Mariners, 3. Cleveland won by one at Progressive Field on Saturday, repeating Friday's exact 4-3 result over Seattle. The Guardians won both games of the series. Sunday's finale is at 1:40 PM ET on MLB.TV.
