The nightcap was one run apart. Jazz Chisholm Jr. hit a tiebreaking home run in the eighth inning, and five Yankees pitchers combined on a four-hitter the rest of the way to hold the lead.

San Diego Padres, 19 — Kansas City Royals, 2. San Diego piled on early and kept going at Kauffman Stadium. The 17-run margin lands among the season's most lopsided results of any weekend slate.

Washington Nationals, 5 — Athletics, 2. Washington came back the following day and took the series in Oakland. The teams had combined for 16 runs on Saturday with Oakland winning 15-1; Sunday swung back the other way by three runs in Washington's favor.

New York Mets, 6 — Philadelphia Phillies, 1. New York handled Philadelphia across the series close, winning Sunday by five and leaving the Phillies to regroup before Monday's Dodgers visit.
