The Guardians piled on early at home and held Minnesota well back. A nine-run margin is a statement regardless of the schedule position; this one arrived on the Monday after the break and set an offensive bar that held for the rest of the night.

Philadelphia Phillies, 10 — Los Angeles Dodgers, 7. Philadelphia won at Citizens Bank Park against a Dodgers team that came in as one of the National League's stronger road clubs. The Phillies scored in double digits and handed the Dodgers a loss heading into Tuesday's TBS rematch on the same field.

Seattle Mariners, 8 — Cincinnati Reds, 0. Seattle held Cincinnati scoreless at T-Mobile Park and put up eight to make the shutout comfortable early. The Reds were shut out on the road; Seattle's pitching staff combined to give the lineup enough cushion by the third inning.
