Carolina rallies past Vegas 4-3 in OT, ties Stanley Cup Final 1-1. Nine MLB games, Diamondbacks edge Dodgers 3-2. NBA dark before Finals Game 2.

Thursday belonged to Carolina. The Hurricanes erased a third-period deficit and stole Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final 4-3 in overtime, tying the series 1-1 before it shifts to Las Vegas. The NBA board went dark a day before Game 2 of the Finals. Nine MLB games filled in around it, headlined by Arizona's 3-2 walk-back of Wednesday's Ohtani shutout.

NHL — Stanley Cup Final, Game 2

Carolina Hurricanes, 4 — Vegas Golden Knights, 3 (OT). Carolina mounted a third-period rally and won it in overtime, with a failed Vegas coach's challenge keeping a critical Hurricanes goal on the board. Series: Series tied 1-1. Game 3 goes Saturday in Las Vegas.

NBA — No games

The NBA board was dark, the scheduled off-day between Wednesday's Knicks Game 1 win in San Antonio and Game 2 Friday night. New York leads the Finals 1-0.

MLB — Nine-game Thursday board

A light Thursday getaway-day slate. A West Coast Diamondbacks win walks back Wednesday's Ohtani shutout, the Giants put up a 12-spot in Milwaukee, and the Pirates flip Tuesday's slugfest with Houston.

Arizona Diamondbacks, 3 — Los Angeles Dodgers, 2. Arizona handed Shohei Ohtani's Dodgers a one-run loss in Phoenix, twenty-four hours after his shutout.

San Francisco Giants, 12 — Milwaukee Brewers, 9. The Giants out-slugged Milwaukee on the road, the night's biggest counting line.

Baltimore Orioles, 8 — Boston Red Sox, 2. Baltimore answered Wednesday's blowout loss at Fenway with one of its own.

Kansas City Royals, 8 — Minnesota Twins, 6. Kansas City took the road game in Minnesota by two.

Toronto Blue Jays, 7 — Atlanta Braves, 2. Toronto flipped Wednesday's loss in Atlanta to take the road series finale by five.

Chicago Cubs, 7 — Oakland Athletics, 6. The Cubs flipped Wednesday's one-run loss to Oakland with a one-run win of their own at Wrigley.

Philadelphia Phillies, 6 — San Diego Padres, 4. Philadelphia closed the home series with a two-run win over San Diego.

Pittsburgh Pirates, 5 — Houston Astros, 1. Pittsburgh held Houston to a single run at Daikin Park, flipping Wednesday's 11-9 loss.

New York Yankees, 2 — Cleveland Guardians, 1. The Yankees edged Cleveland in the Bronx by one, answering Wednesday's 5-4 loss.

What to watch tonight

Friday turns the page. NBA Finals Game 2 leads with the Spurs trying to even the series on home court before it shifts to Madison Square Garden.
