Monday delivered exactly what the calendar promised: baseball only, nine games, both league boards dark. The loudest numbers came in Milwaukee, where the Brewers returned San Francisco's nineteen-run Coors Sunday with a fourteen-run beating of their own. The closest finish was in Seattle, where Cole Young walked the Mariners off in the tenth.
NBA — No games
The NBA board was dark for a second straight night. The Finals open Wednesday, June 3 in San Antonio, with the New York Knicks at the Spurs for Game 1.
NHL — No games
The NHL board was also dark. The Stanley Cup Final between the Vegas Golden Knights and Carolina Hurricanes opens tonight, Tuesday June 2 in Raleigh on ABC.
MLB — Nine-game Monday board
Three night-game pods and a West Coast trio to close. One extra-inning walk-off, one blowout, and a pair of one-run finishes underneath.
Milwaukee Brewers, 16 — San Francisco Giants, 2. Milwaukee returned San Francisco's nineteen-run Coors Sunday with a fourteen-run beating at American Family Field, the night's biggest line.
Detroit Tigers, 10 — Tampa Bay Rays, 9. Detroit out-slugged Tampa Bay in a nineteen-run game, the wildest finish on the board.
Kansas City Royals, 9 — Cincinnati Reds, 2. Kansas City handled Cincinnati on the road by seven.
Colorado Rockies, 9 — Los Angeles Angels, 8. Colorado edged the Angels in a one-run, seventeen-run track meet in Anaheim.
Minnesota Twins, 9 — Chicago White Sox, 6. Minnesota out-scored the White Sox by three at Target Field.
Miami Marlins, 7 — Washington Nationals, 3. Miami took the opener in Washington by four.
Arizona Diamondbacks, 4 — Los Angeles Dodgers, 1. Arizona handed the defending champs a 4-1 loss to open the NL West series.
Seattle Mariners, 3 — New York Mets, 2. Cole Young walked it off in the tenth for Seattle, the only extra-inning game and the closest finish of the night.
Texas Rangers, 2 — St. Louis Cardinals, 1. Texas edged the Cardinals by one in the tightest non-walk-off game on the slate.
What to watch tonight
