Wednesday's headline came out of Montreal: Carolina hammered the Canadiens 4-0 in Game 4 to move within one win of the Stanley Cup Final. No NBA on the slate. Fifteen MLB games — a Shohei Ohtani leadoff bomb, three shutouts, and a White Sox 15-run rout.
NHL — Hurricanes one win from the Cup Final
Carolina Hurricanes, 4 — Montreal Canadiens, 0. Carolina shut out the Canadiens in Game 4 to push the Eastern Conference Final lead to 3-1. The Hurricanes can clinch a trip to the Stanley Cup Final with a Game 5 win at home.
NBA — No games
The NBA scoreboard was dark Wednesday with the East Finals over (Knicks 4-0) and the West Finals between games — Thunder-Spurs Game 6 is set for Thursday in San Antonio.
MLB — 15-game Wednesday board, three shutouts, a White Sox rout
Fifteen games, no postponements. The Yankees and Tigers both spun shutouts, the White Sox put 15 on Minnesota in Chicago, and Ohtani opened the Dodgers' win with a no-doubt leadoff bomb.
Toronto Blue Jays, 2 — Miami Marlins, 1. Toronto edged Miami by one to take the series.
Cleveland Guardians, 3 — Washington Nationals, 2. Cleveland answered Tuesday's beating with a tight one-run road win.
Milwaukee Brewers, 2 — St. Louis Cardinals, 1. Milwaukee won a tight one to sweep the Cardinals at home.
Seattle Mariners, 9 — Oakland Athletics, 1. Seattle hung nine for the second straight night against the A's.
Arizona Diamondbacks, 3 — San Francisco Giants, 2. Arizona edged San Francisco by one to take the series.
Philadelphia Phillies, 3 — San Diego Padres, 0. Philadelphia shut out San Diego for the second time in three games.
Baltimore Orioles, 11 — Tampa Bay Rays, 2. Baltimore hung eleven on Tampa Bay in a nine-run road win.
Detroit Tigers, 4 — Los Angeles Angels, 0. Detroit shut out the Angels at home.
Chicago Cubs, 10 — Pittsburgh Pirates, 4. The Cubs snapped the skid with a six-run win in Pittsburgh.
Boston Red Sox, 8 — Atlanta Braves, 0. Boston answered Tuesday's loss with a shutout.
New York Mets, 4 — Cincinnati Reds, 2. The Mets finally got off the skid with a two-run win in Cincinnati.
Chicago White Sox, 15 — Minnesota Twins, 2. The White Sox hung fifteen in a 13-run rout at home.
New York Yankees, 7 — Kansas City Royals, 0. The Yankees shut out Kansas City to follow up Tuesday's 15-1 rout.
Houston Astros, 4 — Texas Rangers, 3. Houston edged Texas by one to even the series.
Los Angeles Dodgers, 4 — Colorado Rockies, 1. Shohei Ohtani opened the game with a 424-foot leadoff homer and the Dodgers won by three.
What to watch tonight
