Both Western Conference series tilted on Friday. Oklahoma City erased an early 15-point hole in San Antonio to take a 2-1 lead in the NBA West Finals, and Vegas went up 2-0 on Colorado in the NHL Western Conference Final. MLB ran 14 games after rain washed out Cardinals-Reds in Cincinnati, with the only shutout coming in Philadelphia.
NBA Playoffs — Thunder grab a 2-1 West Finals lead
Oklahoma City Thunder, 123 — San Antonio Spurs, 108. Oklahoma City fell behind by 15 early and ran it back in the second half to win Game 3 on the road. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander finished with 26 points and 12 assists, controlling tempo as the Thunder's depth wore San Antonio down. OKC leads the series 2-1 with Game 4 still in San Antonio.
NHL — Vegas takes a 2-0 hold on the Western Conference Final
Vegas Golden Knights, 3 — Colorado Avalanche, 1. Vegas stole a second game in Denver and now leads the top-seeded Avalanche 2-0 in the Western Conference Final. Ivan Barbashev sealed it with an empty-netter, capping a tight defensive night against the Western Conference's top seed. The series shifts to Vegas for Game 3 with Colorado in a 2-0 hole.
MLB — 14-game Friday board, two shutouts
Fourteen games across the slate after Cardinals-Reds was rained out in Cincinnati (makeup as a doubleheader Saturday). Two shutouts, a handful of one-run finishes, and three teams hung nine-plus.
Houston Astros, 4 — Chicago Cubs, 2. Houston opens the series with a road win at Wrigley.
Cleveland Guardians, 1 — Philadelphia Phillies, 0. Cleveland blanks Philadelphia in one of the night's two shutouts.
Tampa Bay Rays, 4 — New York Yankees, 2. Tampa takes the AL East opener in the Bronx.
Toronto Blue Jays, 6 — Pittsburgh Pirates, 2. Toronto wins by four at home.
Minnesota Twins, 8 — Boston Red Sox, 6. Minnesota outslugs Boston for the biggest run total on the board.
Miami Marlins, 2 — New York Mets, 1. Miami edges the Mets by one.
Baltimore Orioles, 7 — Detroit Tigers, 4. Baltimore wins by three at home.
Atlanta Braves, 5 — Washington Nationals, 4. Atlanta edges Washington by one.
Milwaukee Brewers, 5 — Los Angeles Dodgers, 1. Milwaukee hands the Dodgers a four-run loss.
Seattle Mariners, 2 — Kansas City Royals, 0. Seattle blanks Kansas City on the road for the night's second shutout.
Los Angeles Angels, 9 — Texas Rangers, 6. The Angels post nine to take down Texas.
San Diego Padres, 7 — Oakland Athletics, 3. San Diego wins by four.
Colorado Rockies, 3 — Arizona Diamondbacks, 2. Colorado wins by one in the desert.
Chicago White Sox, 9 — San Francisco Giants, 4. The White Sox post nine in San Francisco.
